Buena Park, Orange County
Walter and Cordelia Knott began selling berries from a roadside stand in Buena Park in 1920. Walter Knott popularized the boysenberry, and in 1934 Cordelia started serving fried chicken dinners that drew long lines. He built a replica ghost town in 1940 to entertain the waiting crowds, and it grew into the Knott's Berry Farm amusement park.
